Michigan State achieved a significant victory over their long-standing rival, Michigan, on Friday night. However, head coach Tom Izzo expressed concerns about his team’s turnovers, which totaled 11, with 9 occurring in the first half and only two in the second. A reporter inquired about what Izzo communicated to his team at halftime regarding the turnover issue.
“Threatened ’em,” Izzo stated. “Went old school on them and threatened ’em at halftime. Turnovers, I give (Michigan) credit for some of them, but I take blame for a lot of them. Those were turnovers that did lead to touchdowns. Those are bad turnovers — just ask the Kansas City Chiefs. Those don’t work in sports.”

Izzo could take solace in the fact that none of the Spartans’ turnovers resulted in game-altering momentum, unlike the notable pick-six by Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean against Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

Many fans found humor in Izzo’s comments, particularly his jab at the Chiefs.
