On Thursday, Apple announced a new golf comedy series titled Stick, featuring a star-studded cast that includes some of the biggest names in the sport. In a press release, Apple revealed that the ten-episode first season will be executive-produced by Owen Wilson, who will also take on the lead role as an “over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer” mentoring a “troubled 17-year-old golf phenom” played by Peter Dager.
This debut season will feature several PGA Tour golfers, including Max Homa, Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, Collin Morikawa, and Wyndham Clark. Additionally, notable media personalities, such as CBS golf broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, along with golf insider Daniel Rapaport, will make “additional cameos” throughout the season. The show will also welcome members of the popular YouTube golf group Good Good, with Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke, and Garrett Clark making appearances.
Apple TV has previously found success with comedic sports-related series like the hit show Ted Lasso, and with such a high-profile cast, Stick could become the network’s next triumph in the sports comedy genre. According to the press release, the first three episodes are set to premiere on June 4, with new episodes released every Wednesday until July 23.
