James Carville Dismantles Stephen A. Smith’s Presidential Aspirations

Stephen A. Smith may not eventually run for President as a Democrat in 2028, but for now, he is echoing the current POTUS Donald Trump by taking the spotlight away from other voices. This has seemingly irked political figures like Democratic strategist James Carville. Smith has dabbled in politics over the years, but through his podcast and numerous cable news appearances, he has ramped up his involvement since the last election cycle. What began as a joke is now a serious topic as he has expressed interest in a potential presidential run.

While it appears that Stephen A. Smith’s stance changes daily, this unpredictability serves his main goal: staying in the news. The momentum he has generated has drawn attention from the political arena, including commentary from veteran analyst James Carville.

On his Politicon podcast, Carville expressed his frustration with Smith’s jabs at the Democratic Party and warned that he might have to channel his fame to rescue them from obscurity in a profane rant. He stated, “When it comes to politics he don’t know his ass from a hole in the ground. He’s on there running his goddamn mouth about how he may have to run as a Democrat, because there’s nothing left in the…”

Carville went on to call out Smith, suggesting that he consult seasoned politicians like Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Maryland Governor Wes Moore, who could be his rivals in a Democratic primary. He advised Smith to run his political ideas by them, but ultimately to stick to what he knows best to avoid embarrassing himself further. “Before you start running your f***ing mouth off about politics, a topic of which you really don’t know anything about, you ought to sit back and think about it and call some people and run it by them,” Carville continued, acknowledging Smith’s expertise in American sports.

“The last thing they’re thinking is, if I decide that I want to take the next step in American politics, I’m going to be facing some brutal, brutal opposition. And they both know that. And they know it deep down and they know it well. So Stephen A., keep up your s*** on sports, I enjoy it, I like it, but don’t make a fool of yourself anymore talking about politics.” Those remarks from Carville are indeed forceful, akin to the political version of Clint Eastwood telling someone to “get off my lawn.”

Considering the recent achievements of the Democratic party and their image among American voters, it’s possible that Carville’s criticism is inadvertently one of the highest endorsements Smith could receive at this moment.
