Another high-ranking ESPN editor has been placed on leave, according to a recent report by Fox Corporation-owned Outkick.com’s Bobby Burack. Senior editor Elizabeth Baugh has been placed on administrative leave, following news that executive editor Cristina Daglas was also placed on leave due to various complaints from multiple employees to the company’s Human Resources department.
While specific details regarding the circumstances of both Daglas and Baugh’s leaves remain scarce, there seems to be a connection between the two. Burack notes that “sources say that Baugh had formed friendships with Daglas, which ESPN considered an impediment to the ongoing investigation into Daglas’ conduct.” It is unclear whether this friendship was the primary reason for Baugh’s leave, and ESPN declined to comment on the matter when reached by Awful Announcing.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Baugh has been with ESPN for nearly a decade, initially joining as a general editor in 2015 after working in various fashion and lifestyle publications. She later transitioned to the network’s social media department and has held several roles, including senior editor, deputy editor, and most recently, senior deputy editor, to which she was promoted in May 2024. Conversely, Daglas has been with ESPN since 2014 and has overseen all of ESPN.com since 2021. She became the network’s first female MLB deputy editor in 2016 before taking on a similar role for the NBA coverage.
In addition to her work at ESPN, Daglas is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, and her contributions were highlighted by Cal State Fullerton’s communications department as a new professor this past November. Daglas’ most recent social media post related to ESPN was on January 17, where she re-shared a piece by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne about the feud between Jimmy Butler and Pat Riley.
