What is happening with Corey Graves and the WWE commentary team? During a conversation with Logan Paul, Michael Cole attempted to clarify the situation. In January, Graves expressed his frustrations on social media about being moved to NXT — WWE’s developmental brand — while Cole and Pat McAfee led WWE Raw and Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett covered SmackDown. Following his return to NXT, Booker T, his commentary partner, voiced his disapproval of Graves’ approach, raising the lingering question in WWE: is this situation genuine or part of a storyline?
Cole speculated that it might be a combination of both. “That’s a strange situation,” Cole remarked. “I love Corey. Love him to death. I still don’t understand all the dynamics of it. I know that he sent something out on social media that was pretty critical of the company. He tried to explain to everyone that he was trying to generate some interest in maybe a type of storyline. I don’t think the company saw it that way.” Paul interjected, “It was not a work; it was a shoot — allegedly.” To which Cole confirmed, “Allegedly, and I think him and the company are working that out.”

While reiterating his enjoyment of working with McAfee, Cole praised Graves’ commentary skills. “I love Corey to death,” he said. “He’s an unbelievable commentator. Besides McAfee, he’s probably the best commentator I’ve ever had.”
