Don Orsillo will remain a key figure in San Diego Padres broadcasts for the foreseeable future. Since 2016, he has been the team’s primary play-by-play broadcaster on television and has now shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he and the team have reached a long-term agreement.
“I am pleased to announce a longterm extension signing with the @Padres,” Orsillo posted. “I would like to thank the Padres fans and the SD community for being so very kind. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Erik Greupner who made all of this possible and for his leadership.”

This news is likely to be well-received by Padres fans, as San Diego’s television announce team is often recognized as one of the best in Major League Baseball. In fact, Awful Announcing readers ranked the Padres as having the third-best announce crew in both 2023 and 2024, following only the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets.
