When it comes to the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green were the most vocal among current players. Their shared skepticism of the weekend’s events led to a notable exchange.
During TNT’s broadcast of the All-Star Game, Green made several intriguing statements, including a surprising claim that the Golden State Warriors offered him a head coaching position upon his retirement, which contrasted with his evident interest in a media career.
“I’ve already been offered the Golden State Warriors head coaching job when I’m done,” Green stated. “I think I could be a good coach. I don’t want to be.”
Durant echoed that sentiment, suggesting that Green would excel as a coach, stating, “I think Draymond would be an incredible head coach… I think he’d be a better head coach than TV analyst.”

Durant elaborated further, saying, “He loves being on the floor, he loves teaching, he loves that competitive nature of competing on the court. If he went into TV, I think he would just be clawing and itching to get back on the floor.”
As Green approaches retirement, which may not be far off given he’s in his 13th NBA season and under contract through next season, his growing media presence suggests he might lean toward that path. Nonetheless, it’s intriguing to know a coaching opportunity may serve as a fallback option for him.
