This time last year, Taylor Swift celebrated one of the best weeks of her life, winning a record fourth Album of the Year Grammy Award, announcing her new album “The Tortured Poets Department,,” performing a series of sold-out shows in Tokyo, and flying to Las Vegas to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly this time around; in fact, it turned out to be a pretty terrible week for the pop star.
At the Grammy Awards, Swift was nominated for six awards including Album of the Year. However, unlike the previous year, she left empty-handed, losing all her nominations. This year didn’t feature a record-breaking sold-out concert, nor did she announce a new album or the much-anticipated re-record of her “Reputation” album.
While she did make another appearance at the Super Bowl to cheer on Kelce, the experience turned out to be a disaster for both. Prior to the game, she appeared on the stadium’s video board but was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Though Swift managed to brush off the incident, it grabbed the attention of United States President Donald Trump, who was also present at the Super Bowl. Having criticized Trump multiple times in recent years and endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election, Trump didn’t hesitate to take a jab at her, stating, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” on Truth Social.
The game itself added to Swift’s disappointment, as Kelce and the Chiefs faced a blowout loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, with a final score of 40-22. The score reflected an even more lopsided game, as the Eagles initially led 34-0 before the Chiefs managed a few consolation touchdowns.
Last year was filled with joy for Swift and Kelce, but this year she dealt with a Grammy shutout, witnessed her boyfriend’s team being crushed in the Super Bowl, and faced public mockery from the President. Unsurprisingly, it was a tough week, prompting various reactions on social media.
Comments ranged from “She’s crying all the way to the bank,” to “She will bounce back and be okay! She is a strong woman indeed!” and “Life’s hard. Taylor Swift will be just fine.” One fan even noted, “Awe no trophies for either of them. They’ll survive,” while another remarked, “It seems like she’s fallen from grace a bit.” Despite these setbacks, Swift will undoubtedly recover, but it was clearly a bad week.
