Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson have playfully taken on the role of matchmakers for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift — albeit in jest. Despite receiving criticism for their enthusiasm toward the Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end, both Andrews and Thompson continue to support Kelce wholeheartedly. Andrews even went so far as to appeal to Swift to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Although it hasn’t happened yet, her unwavering support for both Swift and Kelce is evident.
Andrews expressed her disappointment when Swift was booed at the Super Bowl, stating, “I feel bad for the most famous, amazing woman in the world, who f*cking gets booed at the Super Bowl… She handled it so well.” On her Calm Down podcast, she also shared a poignant moment with Kelce post-game as the reality of the Chiefs’ 40-22 loss settled in. “The shot that they have of him coming out of the locker room, and now you know he was going up to the suite,” Andrews recalled. “I was actually coming off the field, and he was just walking out. I didn’t want to bug him, but I thought, ‘No, that’s our friend, and this really sucks.’ So I just walked up to him, gave him a big hug, and said, ‘I’m so sorry, I love you. I’m so sorry.’ They’re humans too. This just in, you know.”

It’s important to remember that reporters are people too, and forming friendships with athletes is part of the job. While Andrews may face criticism for her emotional display, on a night filled with boos directed at Swift and Kelce’s visible disappointment, her concern for her friend took precedence over any narrative. She recognized a friend in need and stepped in to offer support.
