Fans of Nick Wright are well aware of his unwavering support for the Kansas City Chiefs over the years. Therefore, it was no surprise that Monday’s edition of First Things First turned out to be quite a miserable experience for him, further compounded by relentless trolling from his cohosts. With the Chiefs hoping to make history by becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl championships with a victory on Sunday, the show should have been a celebratory occasion for Wright. However, that was not the case as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22, making the game appear closer in the box score than it actually was for viewers at home.
Wright was not in the mood to celebrate the Eagles’ win on Monday’s show, but his cohosts, Kevin Wildes and Chris Broussard, made sure to orchestrate a public celebration. Wildes kicked off the show by recalling Wright’s confidence in the Chiefs defeating the Eagles, noting that FS1 had props prepared to celebrate the Super Bowl LIX outcome despite the Chiefs’ loss. “We don’t have an unlimited budget,” Wildes quipped, before launching multiple confetti cannons, much to Wright’s dismay.
“Live from New York. It is a show that is in a bit of a predicament,” Wildes remarked. “We really prepared because you were so persistent. You told me all year you were practicing…” He continued, “We planned this whole thing for the Chiefs — and we are still going to do it. We have to do it.”

Although Wright attended last year’s Chiefs Super Bowl parade for an on-site edition of First Things First, he wouldn’t be joining a parade this time around. Instead, FS1 executives brought a mock Chiefs Super Bowl parade to the show with a live marching band and dancers.

Things took a turn for the worse for Wright when a choir took the stage to perform a minute-long song about how the Chiefs played their “F game” and how Tom Brady is “still the GOAT.”

While it may be difficult to feel too sorry for Wright given the Chiefs’ recent success, the historical stakes for Kansas City make this loss particularly stinging for him.
