One silver lining to Sunday’s blowout Super Bowl was that Fox took the opportunity to honor an important member of its production team, longtime handheld cameraman Don Cornelli, whose final broadcast before retirement it was.
“That’s a Hall of Famer right there…Nobody better and there might not ever be anyone better.”

Fox play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt praised Cornelli, stating, “That’s a Hall of Famer right there. The great Don Cornelli, who got started in ’87 with CBS, has done as many big games as anyone. The greatest handheld cameraperson in the history of what we do.” The broadcast then showcased Cornelli’s remarkable shot of Devonta Smith’s long touchdown reception from earlier in the game, with Burkhardt concluding, “Nobody better and there might not ever be anyone better. The best.”
While it’s uncommon for broadcasts to spotlight behind-the-scenes production workers—especially during a Super Bowl—Fox was able to give Cornelli a fitting farewell in his last game due to the lopsided nature of the matchup.
