Recently, there has been considerable discussion about NFL on Fox insider Jay Glazer and his tendency to break significant stories on Fox’s pregame show on Sundays instead of via social media. On the Super Bowl LIX edition of Fox NFL Sunday, Glazer shared a major piece of news: the New York Jets informed Aaron Rodgers that they no longer want him back. This announcement took place on a Bourbon Street balcony during the show and was only part of the news he presented, which also included insights from an emotional Eagles team meeting the night before.
Let’s check in with @JayGlazer! ⬇️

Shortly after his TV appearance, Glazer provided further details on X, stating that Rodgers had traveled back to New Jersey to discuss his future with the Jets, only to be told that the team was moving on from him. This potentially opens the door for his designation as a June 1 cut, allowing him the opportunity to sign with any team in the league.

In his full tweet, Glazer elaborated, “Big scoopage: Aaron Rodgers flew back to New Jersey last week to meet with the Jets about his future with the team, only to be told that the team was moving on from him. If that means that he will be a June 1 designation that allows him to sign with any team in the league on March 12 if he decides to continue to play. Given that Aaron made the effort to fly back to discuss his future, all signs point to him continuing to play. It just won’t be for the Jets. @NFLonFOX.”
This information aligns with earlier reporting, including notes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who mentioned that many in the league wouldn’t be surprised if Rodgers and the Jets parted ways. Glazer’s report confirmed not only that a split had occurred but also that it was the Jets’ decision.

This significant news emerged during a Super Bowl pregame show, somewhat overshadowing the event itself. Glazer has consistently made it clear that he times his reporting with his appearances on Fox’s pregame show, rather than considering team or league interests. This strategy undoubtedly adds to the discussion during what is already a lengthy pregame segment.
Interestingly, this news from the Jets, an organization often prone to leaks, remained confidential until Glazer’s live announcement from New Orleans. This not only provided a great visual for the report but also positioned Glazer effectively as a key player in the media narrative surrounding Aaron Rodgers, ensuring he captured significant coverage at an opportune moment.
