The Seattle Mariners are undergoing significant changes in their TV broadcasting booth this season. Aaron Goldsmith will step in as the Mariners’ lead television play-by-play voice, while Angie Mentink will make history as the first woman to serve as a regular in-game color analyst for the franchise. According to The Seattle Times’ Adam Jude, this marks a notable shift for the team.
Mentink, a former star softball player for the Washington Huskies, kicked off her broadcasting career as a commentator for UW baseball and softball at Pioneer Sports. She later joined Fox Sports Northwest (now Root Sports Northwest), where she covered the Mariners and Seattle Seahawks and co-anchored Mariners All Access. In 2021, she became the first woman to work as a TV color commentator for the Mariners and took on the analyst role for several games last season.

Goldsmith, now entering his 13th season with the Mariners, previously considered a formidable opportunity with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2023 but chose to remain in Seattle, stating, “[Seattle] has become my home.” Mariners Hall of Famer Jay Buhner will join the analyst rotation alongside Mentink, Dave Valle, and Ryan Rowland-Smith. In contrast, Mike Blowers, who has been the lead analyst since 2007, will not return this season, and longtime play-by-play broadcaster Dave Sims has departed to become the lead broadcaster for the New York Yankees, succeeding John Sterling.
The Mariners are expected to announce their new broadcasting lineup next week.
