Unrivaled Basketball announced Saturday afternoon the cancellation of the scheduled matchup between Laces BC and Vinyl BC due to player health and safety concerns. The league made this announcement three hours prior to the expected tip-off, set to be broadcast live on TruTV.
“To prioritize player health and safety, Unrivaled will be canceling tonight’s matchup between Laces BC and Vinyl BC,” read the statement. “The game between Mist BC and Lunar Owls BC will now tip off in the 6 p.m. ET window at Wayfair Arena, airing on truTV and Max.”

Laces BC, featuring players like Kayla McBride, Tiffany Hayes, and Alyssa Thomas, last took the court on February 1, facing a defeat of 83-69 against Rose BC. Injuries kept Thomas and Natisha Hiedeman out of the game, while Jackie Young also struggled with an injury. On the other hand, Vinyl BC, which includes Dearica Hamby and Aliyah Boston, last played on February 3, falling 85-68 to the Lunar Owls.
Although no specific reasons for the cancellation were disclosed, social media speculated that injuries have hindered Laces BC’s ability to field an active roster. Just hours before the announcement, the team confirmed the signing of free-agent guard Kiki Jefferson.
The newly established 3-on-3 women’s basketball league hosts all its games at Wayfair Arena in Miami, Florida.
