If you’ve ever wondered how an Oklahoma Drill would play out against an NFL player, Friday’s episode of The Dan Patrick Show provided an interesting insight. Show producer Paul Pabst went one-on-one against Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs. While it was clear Pabst, who is not a professional athlete, would struggle against Jacobs—who stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 223 pounds—the choice of the Oklahoma Drill, where both began lying on their backs, took away any remaining doubts. This challenge was not only a test of strength but also agility.
As the drill commenced, Patrick prompted them with a “Ready, set, hut,” and things moved quickly. Jacobs sprang to his feet, while Pabst struggled to rise. Before he knew it, Jacobs was right in his face, lifting him and shoving him away from the set’s desk. In an open space, Jacobs took Pabst down to the ground. Thankfully, both were wearing shoulder pads, which helped mitigate the collisions.

“My shoulders are fine,” Pabst joked, “but the rest of me is wrecked. What do you know about a hip replacement surgery?” In response, Jacobs quipped, “I was about to get the ball out, then I thought, ‘Nah, I’d rather hit you.’” When Patrick inquired about Jacobs’ tackling history, the running back recounted a time he tackled after fumbling against the Seattle Seahawks, saying, “I like speared, dude — I speared him. The whole week in practice, they were like, ‘Man, you sure you don’t want to take a couple of reps?’”
This was not Pabst’s first encounter with hard-hitting athletes. Patrick reminded the audience that Pabst had faced off against Michael Strahan and Clay Matthews in similar drills before. Subsequently, Pabst shared a picture of his elbow on social media, humorously declaring, “Just a flesh wound.”

Fortunately, Pabst maintained a positive attitude about the experience, stating, “This was fun. But, man what a hit.”
