The San Francisco 49ers have expanded their coaching staff by hiring Gus Bradley, a name familiar to 49ers fans, albeit not for the ‘right’ reasons. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Bradley is set to join the Niners’ defensive coaching staff. “Longtime NFL coach Gus Bradley is joining the 49ers coaching staff,” Pelissero announced on X.

After over a decade coaching in college, Bradley entered the NFL in 2006 when Jon Gruden hired him as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebackers coach. He moved to the Seattle Seahawks in 2009, where he became the defensive coordinator under Pete Carroll, gaining recognition for the team’s “Legion of Boom” defense. Despite a forgettable stint as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013 to 2016, he has remained in the NFL, working with the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and previously, the Indianapolis Colts.
During his time in Seattle, the 49ers and Seahawks engaged in some memorable battles, and now Bradley finds himself on the opposing side of that rivalry. San Francisco is looking to bounce back and make a run for the NFL Playoffs next year after a disappointing 2024 season.
