Cameron Brink Commends Caitlin Clark for Skipping NBA 3-Point Contest

Everyone wants a piece of Caitlin Clark, including the NBA, but her fellow WNBA star Cameron Brink is fully supportive of Clark’s choice to skip a potential All-Star weekend appearance. After last February’s thrilling three-point shooting exhibition between Sabrina Ionescu and Steph Curry, it’s natural to wonder if Clark, the WNBA’s biggest star, would participate in the upcoming 2025 All-Star Game. However, she has resisted the urge to do so.

On her Straight to Cam Wave podcast, Brink discussed Clark’s decision and expressed her support, noting how Clark transitioned from starring at Iowa to achieving the best rookie season in WNBA history. Brink emphasized that Clark desperately needs time to recharge. “My good friend Caitlin Clark denied an NBA All-Star invite. I’m like, good for her. Last year Sabrina and Steph had a little shootout and it was very close,” she said. “She needs a break. I’m texting her, suggesting ‘you need to take a vacation for three months.’ The stress of that event would just create a whole debacle,” Brink added.

“She’s probably focusing on gearing up for the season. At the Paris games, we were debating who’s hotter right now—Caitlin or some NBA players. I remember Tyrese Haliburton jumping in, saying, ‘When I’m with Caitlin, people hand me their phones to take pictures with her and me, like, Tyrese who?’” Brink remarked.

The reason behind Caitlin Clark skipping the NBA All-Star festivities also aligns with her decision to sit out the inaugural season of the 3v3 Unrivaled women’s basketball league that is currently airing on TNT. Despite her immense star power enhancing both events, Clark believes it’s essential to pace herself and not try to be everything to everyone. With a friend and fellow WNBA competitor like Cameron Brink supporting her decision for some much-needed rest, it’s clear how vital it is for Clark to take a break after constantly being in the limelight of one of the most intense sports environments in modern history.
