Ohio State has named its new offensive coordinator, sparking excitement among Buckeye fans. After winning the National Championship last month, the Buckeyes parted ways with Chip Kelly, who was hired by Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders for a significant sum to fill the same role. Just days later, Ohio State announced its replacement.
On3 reported on Wednesday that Brian Hartline will be promoted to serve as the Buckeyes’ next offensive coordinator. This internal promotion is expected to maintain continuity for the reigning National Champions, following an impressive 2024 season where the Buckeye offense ranked 14th in the nation with an average of 35.7 points per game. Will Howard achieved over 4,000 passing yards and 35 touchdowns, while Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson both surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.
Kelly’s tenure at Columbus was a success, culminating in Ohio State’s first National Title in a decade, which caught the attention of Carroll and led to a lucrative contract for Kelly.
Brian Hartline, a well-known figure in Buckeye Nation, is a former Ohio State wide receiver who played in two National Championship games in 2006 and 2007. After a successful NFL career from 2009 to 2015, he joined the Ohio State coaching staff as a quality control assistant under Urban Meyer in 2017. Ryan Day retained him as wide receivers coach, and in 2024, Hartline also took on the role of co-offensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the Buckeyes have consistently produced top-tier wide receivers, sending numerous talents to the NFL and maintaining elite recruiting classes.
Looking ahead to 2025, Ohio State appears set to continue its success, much to the delight of Buckeyes fans.
