The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost both offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who left to pursue the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator position, and Jim Knowles to the Penn State Nittany Lions. In quick response to this attrition, the Buckeyes have opted to hire a coach with NFL experience from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
According to a report from On3, Ohio State is set to bring on Virginia Tech’s Tyler Bowen as their new offensive line coach for the 2025 season. “Multiple sources tell On3 that Ohio State is expected to hire Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen as its next offensive line coach,” reported Pete Nakos of On3.
Last season, the Buckeyes celebrated their first National Championship in ten years, making history by winning the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff and previously the four-team Playoff in 2014. Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes showcased their dominance by defeating Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame en route to their championship victory. Historically, Ohio State has excelled on the offensive line, producing top talent that frequently transitions to the NFL, with Paris Johnson being a recent standout example.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Buckeyes are eager to secure another championship and are particularly focused on defeating Michigan for the first time since 2019. As they aim for success, it remains to be seen how much of an impact Tyler Bowen will have.
