During his announcement, Crosby shared insights on his journey, stating, “The NFL said I was retired at the end of this year because if you don’t play for a year, you technically ride off into the sunset. But I’m not riding off into the sunset. I was always so worried about retirement and being done with something. Being done with a career. But I found things I’m chasing and passionate about.” He was advised by his wife to focus on gratitude, attitude, and the future, expressing profound thankfulness for his time with the Packers which he joined after being drafted in the sixth round out of the University of Colorado in 2007.
Crosby enjoyed a remarkable 16-year tenure with the Packers, participating in 258 games and becoming the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. He successfully converted 400 of his 492 field goal attempts, which reflects an 81.3% completion rate. Notably, he led the league in scoring in 2007 and played a crucial role in the team’s playoff successes, holding the NFL record for most consecutive field goals made in the postseason with 20, and was the kicker in their Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“It’s about the fans, the people, my teammates,” he remarked. “For me, I was always a ‘we’ guy. We’re doing this. We dominated and won the NFC North nine times during my 16 years as a Packer, making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl as a team. My memories are all about the team.” Before his successful NFL career, Crosby was a standout at Colorado, being named to the All-Big 12 first team three times and earning two All-American titles.
Following his announcement, heartfelt well-wishes flooded social media.

Thanks to an all-time Packer great. Clutch, consistent, classy — a pro’s pro. To put the longevity in perspective, you started with the Pack when I was in my 40s and moved on when I was in my 60s. ☮️
