Cowboys Star Expresses Desire to Come Back

This past season, the Dallas Cowboys offense significantly struggled, but their special teams showed a remarkable advantage, a trend that appears set to continue. Kicker Brandon Aubrey has emerged as one of the top kickers in the league during his two-year tenure, boasting an impressive 89.4 percent success rate on field goals. His combination of accuracy and an impressive leg has enabled the Cowboys to score regularly, particularly with 82 percent of his attempts from over 50 yards converted.

As the 2025 season approaches, which will be the final year of Aubrey’s contract with the Cowboys, he expressed his desire to sign an extension, contingent upon the team’s interest in meeting his salary expectations. “I’m eligible for an extension so it’s up to my agent to go up to the Cowboys and see if there’s any interest in signing it there early,” Aubrey stated on Tuesday, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “If an extension comes, then an extension comes. If not, I’m still making ten times what I was making working code [prior to football], so I’m pretty happy.”

Currently, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker holds the record for the largest contract for a kicker in NFL history, valued at $25.6 million over four years. However, Aubrey has positioned himself to potentially command an even greater deal, depending on the Cowboys’ assessment of his consistent performance. The franchise has experienced its share of kicking challenges in the past, making it logical for them to seek stability in this critical position moving forward.

Only time will reveal whether the Cowboys intend to pay Aubrey what he undeniably deserves, but it appears he is keen on avoiding free agency by securing a contract extension to maintain his role as the kicker in Dallas.
