Whether loved or loathed, the Kansas City Chiefs have established themselves as one of the most powerful teams in sports, largely due to their recent successes. As they aim to make history as the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, the franchise is venturing further into the entertainment industry.
According to Alex Werpin of The Hollywood Reporter, the Chiefs are launching a new production company named Foolish Club Studios ahead of Super Bowl LIX, honoring the team’s legacy and American Football League founder Lamar Hunt. “Foolish Club Studios is a tribute to my father in so many ways,” said Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt in a statement retrieved by Werpin. “My father constantly pushed boundaries and inspired innovative thinking, and that is exactly the ethos we expect this new studio to embrace as we expand our ambitions in storytelling and continue to make the game more accessible to our fans.”
Werpin noted that Foolish Club Studios will “develop scripted and unscripted content for both short-form and long-form platforms.” The organization already has experience producing non-football-related content, as they collaborated with Hallmark last year on the film Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. With charismatic stars like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes on board, the potential for diverse content seems limitless.
