Donald Trump Sidelines American Tradition

The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of making history as they aim to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. A victory would mark them as the first NFL franchise to achieve three consecutive Super Bowl wins. As the Eagles strive to stop the Chiefs, a notable moment in history is set to occur as President Trump intends to break tradition.

According to Pro Football Talk, Trump will attend the Super Bowl in New Orleans, becoming the first sitting President to do so. It remains to be seen if he will engage with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who recently indicated he would ignore Trump’s attempts to undermine diversity initiatives across the federal government and the country. “We got into diversity efforts because we felt it was the right thing for the National Football League,” Goodell stated in a recent pre-Super Bowl media session. “We’re going to continue those efforts because we’ve not only convinced ourselves, I think we’ve proven ourselves that it does make the NFL better. We’re not in this because it’s a trend to get in it or a trend to get out of it. Our efforts are fundamental in trying to attract the best possible talent into the National Football League.”

Fans have taken to social media to express their reactions to Trump’s attendance. One fan remarked, “That’s because the other Presidents were busy doing their job, not insatiably vying for attention of any sort.” Another questioned, “Will you be writing a piece connecting the dots to this and the NFL’s sudden decision to remove the ‘End Racism’ verbiage from the End Zones at the Super Bowl? Or are we all supposed to pretend it’s just a weird coincidence?” A further comment noted, “Looking forward to more national championship teams stiffing this dude for visits.” For the sake of the event, hopefully, Trump’s presence will not overshadow the Super Bowl or cause any disruptions for other attendees.
