Hopefully, Dwyane Wade’s broadcasting career is on firmer ground than his game show venture. The former Miami Heat superstar’s TBS game show The Cube has reportedly been canceled after three seasons, as noted by Marc Berman of Forbes.
The Cube, adapted from a popular British game show, premiered in the U.S. in 2021 with Wade as the host. Contestants competed in various challenges inside a large glass cube for a chance to win up to $250,000. Wade’s involvement led to significant promotion across TNT Sports’ platforms, making the show well-known among sports fans.
Fortunately for the three-time NBA champion, he might not have to rely solely on game show hosting for his media career. Last summer, Wade debuted as a broadcaster during NBC’s coverage of the Olympic men’s basketball competition alongside play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. His performance received generally positive reviews, leading many to speculate that Wade could join NBC’s NBA broadcast team next season.
While NBC hasn’t confirmed anything regarding Wade’s role, it was recently reported that Reggie Miller has been named the network’s lead NBA analyst, alongside play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico. However, Wade may still find a place on another broadcast team, especially since NBC is likely to support Eagle as its No. 2 play-by-play voice, given their successful collaboration last summer in Paris.
If this materializes, it could allow Dwyane Wade more free time to focus on his career progression rather than stressing over upcoming lines on The Cube.
