In recent decades, it’s become customary for the President of the United States to participate in an interview with the network broadcasting the Super Bowl. With Fox set to air Super Bowl LIX featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Donald Trump will be joining this tradition. On Monday, Fox News announced that Trump had engaged in a comprehensive interview with anchor Bret Baier, which was pre-recorded and scheduled to air on Super Bowl Sunday.
“Fox News Channel’s chief political anchor Bret Baier will conduct a wide-ranging interview with President Donald Trump during the Fox Super Bowl Sunday pregame show on February 9,” Fox News announced on Monday. The pre-taped interview occurred at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, and will be featured in the 3 p.m. ET hour before the Super Bowl. In the interview, Baier discussed the changes enacted by the administration since the Inauguration and the initial 100 days of Trump’s presidency, as Fox prepares to broadcast Super Bowl LIX from New Orleans, Louisiana, at 6:30 p.m. ET.
This marks the first year since 2022 that a president has participated in a Super Bowl interview, following Joe Biden’s refusal to engage in the past two years. This will also be Trump’s second interview with Fox News since his recent inauguration; he previously spoke with Sean Hannity in January for his first interview post-inauguration. However, this will be Baier’s first one-on-one with Trump since June 2023.
Regarding the game, the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs triumphed over the Eagles. If the Chiefs win this year, they will make history as the first team to secure three consecutive Super Bowl victories.
