Over the past several months, Angel Reese has emerged as one of the top stars in women’s basketball, earning her a spot in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled three-on-three basketball league. This weekend, however, she made some unfortunate league history by becoming the first player in Unrivaled history to be ejected from a game. During Saturday’s match between Reese’s Rose and the Laces, late in the second quarter, she attempted to steal the ball from Laces guard Tiffany Hayes but was called for a foul, a decision she clearly disagreed with.

After receiving the foul, Reese waved her hand dismissively at the referee, which led to a technical foul. This only fueled her frustration, and she approached the referee to plead her case, arguing that her gestures were directed at Hayes and not the official. However, the referee was unwilling to entertain her argument, ultimately issuing Reese a second technical foul, resulting in her ejection.
Despite Reese’s early exit, the Rose managed to secure a victory, defeating the Laces with a final score of 83 to 69. The Rose will return to action at 8:15 p.m. on Friday against the Mist.
