WNBA Star Speaks Her Mind About Donald Trump

Newly-elected United States President Donald Trump wasted no time in signing several controversial executive orders during his first week in office, including a few that targeted the transgender community. WNBA star DiJonai Carrington is clearly not happy about it. Like many of her fellow WNBA stars, Carrington is participating in the Unrivaled women’s basketball three-on-three league during the offseason and has been using her platform to voice her opposition to Trump.

When she arrived at the arena ahead of a game this week, Carrington sported a sweatshirt featuring rapper YG and the name of his 2016 tour: “The F—Donald Trump Tour,” and posed for a photo showing off the message, written in red letters with YG flipping the middle finger in the background.

During a press conference this week, Carrington was candid about her views on Trump, calling on WNBA players to “take action” against the President. “We see that some of the policies are already going into action, and, of course, that means that as the WNBA, being at the forefront of a lot of these movements, it’s time for us to also take action,” Carrington stated according to Fox News. “It definitely needs to happen as women, women’s rights are being taken away, and LGBTQ rights are also at risk. They haven’t been stripped away yet, but it’s definitely in the works.”

Carrington attracted attention for a different reason during the WNBA season when she accidentally injured Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark by poking her in the eye during a game. Both players quickly clarified that the incident was unintentional, but it did not stop the fan backlash against Carrington.
