The Buffalo Sabres had a memorable night on Tuesday, securing a commanding victory over the Boston Bruins. As the game came to a close, Boston announcer Judd Sirott took the opportunity to poke fun at Buffalo’s NFL team, the Bills.
With the match well in hand, Buffalo’s Zach Benson scored in the dying moments, finalizing the score at 7-2. “Goal No. 7,” Sirott remarked while replaying the goal, and after a brief pause, he brought up the Bills’ recent defeat in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, saying, “The touchdown that Buffalo needed in Kansas City.”

Although recalling that moment is undoubtedly painful for Buffalo fans, Sirott’s comment held a grain of truth. The Bills lost to the Chiefs with a final score of 32-29, needing either a field goal to tie or a touchdown to win—something that ultimately didn’t happen. As we all know (thanks to Sirott’s reminder), the outcome was disappointing.
With Kansas City lacking an NHL team and the Bruins wrapping up their season with no additional games against the Philadelphia Flyers, fans of the losing teams might be spared from further jabs from Sirott, regardless of the Super Bowl LIX outcome.
