Two years ago, during Super Bowl on Fox, the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles with Greg Olsen in the broadcast booth alongside Kevin Burkhardt. Fast forward to 2025, and the same teams meet again on the same network for Super LIX from New Orleans, but this time, Tom Brady will take Olsen’s place in the analyst chair at the Superdome on February 9.
Recently, Olsen described it as “very hard” to miss the NFL postseason after being demoted to the No. 2 booth in favor of Brady. He reinforced his feelings in an interview with the Charlotte Observer. “It’s pretty clear that the path, the upward trajectory as far as Fox goes, probably is a non-factor,” Olsen remarked. He expressed uncertainty about his future while noting, “I enjoy working at Fox. Fox has been very good to me. They know. I’ve been very honest with them that I’m not content just calling one o’clock regional games for the rest of my career.”
The article highlights that Olsen has been “clear” with Fox Sports management about his dissatisfaction with his position. Unfortunately for him, change doesn’t seem imminent. As John Ourand recently reported at Puck, both Brady and his agent confirmed his return to Fox next year, while CBS, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video have solidified their analyst lineups. Despite being an acclaimed, Emmy-winning NFL analyst, Olsen currently finds himself without a top job opportunity, which is a challenging situation for him. While Fox management may not be able to alter this, they must also heed his warnings should he decide to leave for a rival network in the future.
