Saints Progressing with Kellen Moore

The New Orleans Saints are the last NFL team without a head coach, and on Monday, they began the process of securing an offensive leader they believe can rejuvenate the team. Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has effectively transformed the Eagles’ offense into a dominant run-heavy scheme, particularly benefiting from Saquon Barkley’s addition this season. Over the past few years, Moore has excelled while working with notable quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, and Dak Prescott in his previous coordinator roles, showcasing his offensive acumen.

Recognizing his recent successes, the Saints reportedly made a move, as confirmed by Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill, who shared that the organization flew to Philadelphia on Monday evening to interview Moore for the head coaching position.

While every assistant dreams of stepping into a head coaching role, the question remains whether it makes sense for Moore to leave his prominent position with the Eagles for the Saints, considering the challenges ahead. The Saints’ roster has been criticized for lacking young talent, making a potential rebuild difficult and lengthy. If Moore accepts the job in New Orleans, he may face a challenging road ahead; alternatively, remaining in Philadelphia could allow him to explore future head coaching opportunities when more promising prospects arise.

Nonetheless, the chance to lead a team may not arise again soon for Moore, which could entice him to seize the opportunity in New Orleans. Only time will reveal his decision, but it’s evident that Moore might have his sights set on more than just Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, a notion that could concern Eagles fans.
