The Buffalo Bills entered Sunday with hopes of overcoming their playoff struggles against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, quarterback Josh Allen faced his fourth postseason defeat against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Despite the loss, the Bills had opportunities to secure a victory at Arrowhead Stadium; however, in a pivotal moment during the fourth quarter, Allen was pressured on a corner blitz during a crucial fourth down. Backpedaling, he launched a desperate throw that fell just short.
Tight end Dalton Kincaid had a moment to potentially change the game but misjudged his diving attempt, allowing the ball to hit the ground. After reviewing the play, many observers felt that Kincaid should have been able to make the catch.
The day after the game, Allen spoke with reporters, expressing his desire to improve. “I got to be better for him,” Allen stated during the media session. “I didn’t feel like I put him in enough good situations this year, ball-placement-wise. Even the one last night over the middle — I left it behind him, which allowed 32 to make a play on it. He can sit there and think about that play over and over, but I got to be better for him. That’s what it comes down to, and get him more involved. I know he’s been battling throughout the entire year, dealing with bumps and bruises, and probably playing in some games he shouldn’t have; he’s a tough player, and I have nothing but respect for how he approached this year.”
“He’s going to be so much better next year. Let his body heal up, and I’m going to be better, better for him, and I can promise you that.” It will be intriguing to see what adjustments Buffalo makes to finally conquer their playoff nemesis.
