As Jalen Hurts makes his way to his second Super Bowl in three years, Emmanuel Acho believes the quarterback’s detractors are looking quite foolish. Hurts, who remains an easy target for critics due to his lack of flashy passing stats and the reliance on his teammates to push him into the end zone for touchdowns, is often judged by metrics that don’t capture his true value.
However, Acho emphasizes that the only statistic that truly matters is winning, and few quarterbacks excel at that as much as Hurts. In his words, “If you’re still doubting Jalen Hurts, what are you doing? The only statistics that matter are winning, and that’s what he does best.”

Acho further stated on FS1’s The Facility, “If you are still critical of Jalen Hurts, then what are you doing? I quoted Albert Einstein, ‘If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it’s stupid.’ People are evaluating Hurts on factors beyond winning, making their judgments irrational.” He added, “Jalen Hurts has proven to be the second-best winner in the NFL since he entered the league, surpassed only by Patrick Mahomes. The key focus should always be winning; that’s what Hurts excels at, and the critics judging him unfairly are the ones who seem foolish now.”
Recently, Cam Newton criticized Hurts’ ego, while Colin Cowherd questioned whether Hurts is adequate enough to lead the Eagles into the red zone against the Kansas City Chiefs. Even Acho’s co-host Chase Daniel has openly been a vocal critic of Hurts. Meanwhile, Hurts continues to remain composed and focuses on winning.
While one could argue against the notion that winning is the sole statistic that counts by referencing the careers of Dan Marino and Trent Dilfer, it is essential to recognize that no one is claiming Hurts is en route to becoming a legendary quarterback like those on the Mount Rushmore of the NFL. Nevertheless, it’s time to stop labeling Hurts as a weakness for the Eagles.
