Chris Canty has made quite the name for himself this football season on ESPN Radio and television appearances with his bold takes. However, one opinion regarding Jalen Hurts was too much for even his co-workers to bear. On ESPN Radio’s Unsportsmanlike, which Canty hosts alongside Michelle Smallmon and Evan Cohen, the former New York Giants defensive end claimed he had Hurts ranked among his Top 10 quarterbacks at the start of the season. The significance of this ranking was questioned, as it appeared to imply faith in the Eagles players, suggesting doubts were directed at head coach Nick Sirianni instead.
In a quick twist, Canty was immediately called out by a production team member, who pointed out that he had not included Hurts in his Top 10, with video clips available to back up this contradiction. Awkward!

Following the incident, Chris Canty took to social media to assert that he indeed had Hurts listed as a Top 10 QB, sharing a tweet as evidence.
Checks notes from earlier this month….. Yeah, Hurts as a top 10 QB pic.twitter.com/NFRMhdnK54

However, there’s a catch: that tweet is dated January 8, 2025, at the beginning of the postseason, not before the season as he claimed. It lists quarterbacks specifically in the playoffs, not from all teams.
Is there video evidence of Canty stating Hurts isn’t a Top 10 quarterback? Absolutely! Check out this clip from March 2024’s First Take, showing the host caught in a significant flip flop.

Uh oh. If Chris Canty intends to establish himself as one of ESPN’s top hot take analysts, he should at least review his own footage to maintain consistency in his opinions. The one hot take that’s undeniably too hot to handle is one that contradicts himself.
