Dean Blandino, now a rules analyst for Fox and an ex-NFL referee, is no stranger to conspiracy theories surrounding the NFL. Despite his extensive background, he revealed that even his own brother subscribes to the belief that the league rigs games, particularly for Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs. On SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, Blandino shared, “My brother’s like, ‘They want Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl!’”

Blandino explained, “The Chiefs have gotten the benefit of calls, but good teams make their own breaks. My brother is convinced that the league is rigged and that I signed an NDA preventing me from revealing the truth. There’s no conspiracy. The officials face too many variables, and there’s too much happening for any one game to be rigged.” He emphasized the challenges of officiating football with its seven officials and questioned the feasibility of orchestrating a rigged game on such a scale.
Despite Blandino’s credentials, his brother aligns with theories posited by personalities like Skip Bayless, claiming the NFL fixes games for the Chiefs to ensure Taylor Swift appears at the Super Bowl. It’s difficult for Blandino to sway family members entrenched in their beliefs, especially when his brother continues to harbor doubts about the integrity of the NFL.
Although family disagreements are common, one would expect that Dean’s career as a referee and head of officiating would alleviate his brother’s concerns. Yet, it seems likely that the two have lively discussions, particularly during Thanksgiving dinners, about these conspiracies.
