Joe Buck Responds to Troll with Incorrect Claim on X

Some prominent figures completely ignore social media trolls, while Joe Buck seems to prefer owning them. Ahead of the AFC Championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, an X user posted, “Of course @Buck is the announcer for Chiefs game he’ll find any chance he can to dog on KC.”

The obvious problem is that the AFC Championship Game is televised by CBS, featuring Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. Buck, ESPN’s No. 1 NFL announcer, was presumably watching the game and keeping an eye on social media. The troll made it easy by tagging him. Buck did not disappoint with his response: “Yep! Almost set to go. Cold here in KC. @tonyromo and I are about to see who will meet the Eagles in SB LIX. Tune us in on @NFLonCBS,” Buck wrote.

It was a great response from Buck to a strange social media post. Not only did the post erroneously claim Buck was working the game, but it also suggested he has some anti-Chiefs bias. Ironically, earlier this season, Buck and Aikman faced criticism from some fans for seemingly praising the Chiefs too much in a Monday Night Football game. Buck even addressed this issue near the end of the Chiefs’ win over the New Orleans Saints, saying, “You know, when you do these games and you stand here at Arrowhead, which for us is maybe the best view of an NFL field, and you see Mahomes doing what he’s doing, non-Chiefs fans go, ‘Oh my God, can you guys just shut up about Patrick Mahomes?’ But it’s just startling to see somebody who plays the position that way.”

The takeaway is that Buck has demonstrated he’s not afraid to engage trolls— in fact, he seems to enjoy it.
