ESPN star Stephen A. Smith expressed disappointment after voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election, feeling regret over his decision. During an appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher on Friday, he revealed that he feels like a fool for aligning with the Democrats’ plan. “Kamala Harris, who didn’t resonate during the primaries in 2020 and couldn’t even reach Iowa, suddenly became the Democratic nominee. Then, at the convention in Chicago, everyone acted like ‘She’s a rockstar!’ So it begs the question, ‘How’d that happen?’” Smith commented, as reported by Fox News.
Ultimately, Smith felt duped by the Democrats, stating, “Yes, I voted for her, and many others did as well, but we ended up feeling like [darn] fools for supporting a candidate who, had there been a primary, likely wouldn’t have secured the nomination.” While he doesn’t support Donald Trump—citing flaws in the newly-elected president—he argued that Trump appears more in touch with the average American than Kamala Harris. “Here’s the deal: the man was impeached twice, he was convicted on 34 felony counts, and the American people still said, ‘He’s closer to normal than what we see on the left,’” Smith noted. Clearly, he wishes the outcome had been different.
