Just days after clinching a national championship, Ohio State quarterback Will Howard stepped into a different spotlight by starring in a Dr Pepper commercial. If his teammates’ reviews are any indication, Howard might want to stick to football.
Howard shared the commercial on his Instagram account on Friday. In it, he struts like a fashion model, donning a Dr Pepper jacket, winking and smiling at the camera while enjoying the soft drink. “You better have gotten paid a lot for this,” offensive lineman Luke Montgomery quipped, while tight end Patrick Gurd humorously remarked, “What in the Zoolander is this?” referencing the 2001 comedy where Ben Stiller plays a model. Incoming five-star quarterback recruit Tavien St. Clair also joined in, questioning, “What did I just watch?” Wide receiver Nolan Baudo added, “I mean yeah, don’t even really like Dr Pepper but sign me tf up.” A fan, known as “Freeeddom” on X, gathered several comments from Ohio State players poking fun at Howard.

Even head coach Ryan Day’s son, RJ, got in on the action by posting, “This video sums you up as a person perfectly.” Hey, no one said that doing commercials and earning NIL money would be easy. This commercial is just the latest connection between Dr Pepper and college football, following the success of their “Fansville” commercials and the buzz generated by the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway competition, often for reasons beyond what was intended.
