NFL Community Responds to Stunning News About Bears Quarterback

The Chicago Bears are working diligently to restore their team culture after a tumultuous season. Although 2024 began on a hopeful note with a 4-2 record led by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the optimism quickly faded as the Bears ended the season with a disappointing 5-12 record. Their fifth victory came only in the final game, a showdown against the Green Bay Packers. This unfortunate turn of events led to the mid-season dismissal of head coach Matt Eberflus, marking a historic first for the organization.

In an effort to turn the tide, Chicago has brought in Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as the new head coach. His immediate focus is on assembling a capable coaching staff, and he has already secured J.T. Barrett, the Lions’ assistant quarterbacks coach, to help unlock Williams’s potential.

Reactions from fans have varied, with one expressing surprise at Barrett’s coaching role in the league, while another questioned his ability to teach given his previous work with Jared Goff in Detroit. Comments also highlighted Barrett’s less-than-stellar throwing skills during his time at Ohio State. It remains to be seen how Barrett will assist Williams’s development.
