Fubo is increasing the cost of all its plans by $5, including the Essential plan that launched in December. David Satin and Matt Tamanini from Streamable.com reported on the price hike, stating, “Fubo had the best price for a large-scale live TV streaming channel package on the market… for around seven weeks. Its Essential plan, introduced in early December at $80 per month, was less expensive than DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV, but after about a month and a half, the service has already raised the price. Fubo has raised subscription prices by $5 per month on all its English-language plans for new customers, including the Essential package.”
Following this change, Michael Timmermann of Michaelsaves.com updated his price tracker. With the Essential plan now costing $85 per month, Fubo’s pricing is steeper than all other streaming services, except DIRECTV. It had previously been more affordable than Hulu and YouTube TV. Timmermann tweeted, “I’ve updated my live TV streaming price tracker to reflect Fubo’s $5/month increase.” He also highlighted additional details in his tweet linked to The Streamable.

The adjustment in pricing means that Fubo’s Essential and Pro plans now carry the same cost. However, the Pro plan offers a full suite of regional sports networks (RSNs), which can add up to an additional $16 per month, depending on the specific channels available in a market. This distinction becomes increasingly significant as we move into the latter part of the NBA and NHL seasons, and with the MLB season commencing in March. “Fubo’s Essential and Pro plans come with essentially the same number of channels (between 210 and 215), but the key differentiator is that the Pro plan includes market-specific RSNs, such as FanDuel Sports Network channels nationwide and Marquee Sports Network in Chicago,” the report concluded. “As Fubo prides itself on being a sports-centric streamer, the ability to watch your favorite local MLB, NBA, and NHL teams is a major advantage for sports fans, especially as these channels become harder to find.”
