Sarah Spain has long been a champion of women’s sports, and now she is leveraging her platform to promote a community-owned pre-professional women’s soccer team in Minnesota. Taking to Bluesky on Thursday, Spain urged her followers to take part in the second round of funding for Minnesota Aurora FC, a team competing in the USL W’s Heartland Division.
Get in besties, we’re buying a soccer team.
Good Game with Sarah Spain and our loyal listeners, aka “slices,” are supporting the biggest community-owned women’s sports team in America by purchasing a “slice” of the Minnesota Aurora FC. @mnaurorafc.bsky.social

This isn’t Spain’s first venture into team ownership; she is already a part-owner of the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars. Ultimately, Aurora FC aims to become an NWSL expansion team, although their 2026 bid was denied. If Aurora FC ever receives NWSL expansion approval, Spain may need to divest from at least one of her ownership stakes. Currently, she hosts the Good Game with Sarah Spain podcast, which focuses on women’s sports, and was previously a panelist on ESPN’s Around the Horn. Earlier this month, she mentioned to Awful Announcing’s Michael Grant that she was never given a reason for her removal from the show. Regardless, Sarah Spain is clearly keeping busy in her post-ATH days.
