Netflix Unveils ‘Court of Gold’ Trailer for 2024 Olympic Basketball Event

While Netflix continues to dip its toe into the realm of live sports content, the platform maintains a prolific output of sports-adjacent shows. The latest addition is a six-part docuseries titled Court of Gold, which chronicles the 2024 Olympic men’s basketball competition. According to the documentary’s trailer, Court of Gold will follow several leading teams from last year’s Paris Olympics, including the United States, France, Serbia, and Canada.

Set for release on February 18th, Court of Gold showcases impressive access to the top players in the 2024 Olympic basketball competition, featuring star athletes like Kevin Durant and Victor Wembanyama. The trailer also includes appearances from Carmelo Anthony, USA head coach Steve Kerr, and even former president Barack Obama. One of the most memorable moments features Durant addressing concerns over Team USA’s chemistry due to limited playtime together: “That chemistry gonna help you when gotta guard Steph [Curry]?” Durant’s words resonate, especially if you saw the gold medal game between the United States and France.

This type of docuseries has become Netflix’s stronghold in the sports genre. Despite their recent airing of NFL Christmas Day games and the weekly WWE Raw series, Netflix has made it clear that full-season live sports packages aren’t currently feasible. Nevertheless, the platform’s non-live sports offerings remain among the best in the industry, and Court of Gold aims to uphold that reputation.
