Jeremiah Smith Reveals Transfer Decision

Ohio State Buckeyes standout freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has reportedly received enticing offers to enter the transfer portal after playing a crucial role in leading the Buckeyes to a national title. However, it appears he has no plans to consider such options. Emerging as one of the most dominant wide receivers in the nation by the end of his inaugural college season, Smith has caught the attention of other teams willing to offer substantial sums to lure him away from Ohio State. According to college football insider Pete Nakos of On3, Smith is being offered between $4.5 million and $5 million to transfer to another program.

Despite these lucrative offers, Nakos reported that Ohio State is prepared to do whatever it takes to retain Smith, and it seems Smith is committed to staying. Shortly after the news broke, Jay Wimbrow of the South Florida Express, a 7-on-7 team Smith played for in high school, took to social media to voice his belief that Smith would not leave Ohio State, stating, “Ain’t gonna happen, that family is too loyal. Good try tho.” Smith quickly re-shared Wimbrow’s post with a 100 emoji, signaling his intention to remain loyal to the Buckeyes.

As the top-rated player in the 2024 high school recruiting class, Smith showcased his dominance during Ohio State’s playoff run, racking up 381 receiving yards and five touchdowns in four games. His performance has led multiple NFL Draft analysts to suggest that he would be the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft if he were eligible, despite being only 18 years old. While it’s understandable that other programs would be keen to secure him, it doesn’t seem like Smith will be making a move anytime soon.
