Rams May Part Ways with Coach Following Playoff Defeat

The Los Angeles Rams faced defeat in the NFC Divisional Round against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, setting the stage for potential changes within their coaching staff. Amid offseason attrition impacting teams across the league—whether through coordinators ascending to head coaching roles or shifting teams—the Rams could be next in line for adjustments.

Recently, the Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson as their new head coach and are actively assembling their staff, with a keen interest in a candidate from the Rams. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears have requested an interview with Rams assistant Aubrey Pleasant.

Pleasant, a Flint, Michigan native who attended the University of Wisconsin, played football from 2005 to 2008 before transitioning into coaching after going undrafted. He began his coaching career at the University of Michigan, later joining Jay Gruden’s staff in Washington in 2013, where he worked alongside several future coaches, including Rams head coach Sean McVay. In 2017, Pleasant became the cornerbacks coach for the Rams before moving to the Detroit Lions and then the Green Bay Packers. He re-joined the Rams in 2023.

The Bears’ choice of Ben Johnson is resonating throughout the NFL, as they look to compete in a challenging NFC North. It remains to be seen if their momentum will facilitate the acquisition of Pleasant, or at least secure an interview.
