The Dallas Cowboys have been on the lookout for their next head coach after parting ways with Mike McCarthy during the offseason. According to a report by Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS, the team is finalizing a contract to hire offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. Hill anticipates that a deal will be concluded by Friday, potentially as early as Thursday.
“Look for the Cowboys to cross the finish line on hiring Brian Schottenheimer no later than Friday, possibly today,” Hill stated in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Schottenheimer began his NFL career as a coordinator with the New York Jets in 2006 and has since held positions with the Rams, Colts, Seahawks, and Jaguars, along with a role at the University of Georgia before joining the Cowboys in 2022. Although he lacks head coaching experience, he is the son of renowned NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer.
Notably, Schottenheimer has not interviewed with any other teams for vacant head coaching roles. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to his new responsibilities.
