The Tennessee Titans find themselves in the enviable position of sitting atop the 2025 NFL Draft with the No. 1 overall pick. Already, the Titans outlined their thought process regarding this critical selection. Each team has different strategies for utilizing the No. 1 overall pick; some aim to secure a franchise cornerstone, while others focus on filling their most significant needs or leverage it in trade packages to build for the future.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Titans new general manager Mike Borgonzi and President of Football Operations Chad Brinker were asked about their plans for the top pick. Brinker elaborated on the prospect of selecting a “generational talent,” stating, “We won’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL Draft,” a comment captured and shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on X.

This statement raises the question of who in the 2025 NFL Draft class might be perceived as a “generational talent.” Opinions vary; while most analysts don’t categorize any quarterbacks in this class as such, the Titans have a pressing need at the position and could view someone like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders more favorably than others. Additionally, Brinker might have been referring to Colorado’s dual-threat athlete Travis Hunter, who is indeed regarded as a generational talent due to his skills as both a cornerback and a wide receiver.
Although positions like Hunter’s are not traditionally selected at No. 1, the Titans may believe that he is too exceptional to overlook. With plenty of time remaining before the draft, the Titans will ultimately weigh their options. Brinker’s remarks might also be a strategy to spark interest among other teams for a potential trade. Regardless, all eyes will be on the Titans as they determine their course of action with the top pick.
