Ranking Super Bowl LIX Contenders Ahead of Championship Sunday

As we approach Championship Sunday, only four teams remain in the NFL Playoffs. Let’s rank these teams as contenders for the Super Bowl LIX title.

4. Washington Commanders (14-5; Previously: 7th)

Super Bowl title odds per DraftKings: +800
Super Bowl title odds per FPI: 14.7%
FPI Ranking: 10th
Total DVOA Ranking: 10th
Playoff Seed: No. 6 in NFC
Betting Line per DraftKings: +6 at Eagles; +230

The Commanders continue to surprise by stunning the Lions, the NFC’s No. 1 seed, with a score of 45-31 in Detroit. Jayden Daniels has had an impressive rookie season, leading this offense effectively. Though they enter the NFC Championship Game as 6-point road underdogs, their recent victory by two touchdowns shows they can compete with anyone.

3. Buffalo Bills (15-4; Previously: 4th)

Super Bowl title odds per DraftKings: +260
Super Bowl title odds per FPI: 31.1%
FPI Ranking: 3rd
Total DVOA Ranking: 4th
Playoff Seed: No. 2 in AFC
Betting Line per DraftKings: +1.5 at Chiefs; +105

The Bills narrowly defeated the Ravens 27-25 in an AFC Divisional Round that felt like an AFC Championship showdown. Josh Allen and his squad successfully held off two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Now, they face the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that has eliminated them from the playoffs in three of the last five seasons. This might be their best shot yet to advance past the Chiefs, although winning at Arrowhead Stadium during January remains a monumental challenge.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (16-2; Previously: 1st)

Super Bowl title odds per DraftKings: +220
Super Bowl title odds per FPI: 22.0%
FPI Ranking: 6th
Total DVOA Ranking: 8th
Playoff Seed: No. 1 in AFC
Betting Line per DraftKings: -1.5 vs Bills; -125

Despite appearing vulnerable all season, the Chiefs find themselves hosting the AFC Championship Game as two-time defending champions. In their Divisional Round victory, Kansas City held the Houston Texans to just 14 points and sacked quarterback C.J. Stroud eight times.

1. Philadelphia Eagles (16-3; Previously: 3rd)

Super Bowl title odds per DraftKings: +180
Super Bowl title odds per FPI: 32.2%
FPI Ranking: 5th
Total DVOA Ranking: 5th
Playoff Seed: No. 2 in NFC
Betting Line per DraftKings: -6 vs Commanders; -285

The Eagles rise to the top of our rankings, mainly due to their favorable path. As a six-point home favorite over the Commanders, they appear to have the best chance of the four teams to reach the Super Bowl. Philadelphia recently edged out the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 in the NFC Divisional Round, despite quarterback Jalen Hurts suffering a knee injury that casts doubt on his availability and performance in the NFC Championship Game. Regardless, the Eagles are likely to rely heavily on star running back Saquon Barkley, who ran for an impressive 2,005 yards in the regular season and rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams.
