Following the Los Angeles Chargers’ Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans, linebacker Khalil Mack expressed his uncertainty about his NFL future. The day after the game, he mentioned to reporters that he would take some time to discuss his next steps with his family. Ultimately, Mack has made his decision. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the standout pass-rusher is set to return for the upcoming season.

As Schefter highlights, Mack will enter free agency for the first time in his career. He began his professional journey with the Oakland Raiders, where he spent four seasons, earning All-Pro First Team honors three times and becoming the second Raider to win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2016.
Before the 2018 season commenced, the Raiders traded Mack to the Chicago Bears, where he played until the end of the 2021 season. During his time in Chicago, he earned another All-Pro First Team selection and was a close second in the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year voting. After that season, Mack was traded to the Chargers, where his second season in Los Angeles stood out; he recorded a career-high 17 sacks in 2023 and was named a Pro Bowler in all three seasons with the team.
