At 36 years old, Russell Wilson seems to be nearing the end of his NFL journey. However, during his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, he expressed confidence in his abilities as a quarterback, stating he has much left to give. Reflecting on the Steelers’ early playoff exit, he noted it was “tough” not to achieve more, yet he emphasized his passion for competing and his desire to remain in Pittsburgh for the long haul: “I’ve got so much more in me, man. I’m excited. My goal is to be with the Pittsburgh Steelers a long time, and hopefully, finish my career there. I’ve always gone against the odds and the doubts. I love football and competing every day, and I am dedicated to giving my best for as long as I can.”
This past season showcased Wilson’s ability to perform at a high level, particularly in the postseason. Although the team fell short against the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round, Wilson displayed his talent by throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns without any turnovers, despite the Steelers only managing 14 points on offense. This performance highlighted a potential limitation within the Steelers’ offense, particularly in competing against the top teams in the AFC.
Looking ahead, enhancing the offense could help elevate Wilson’s game, and the Steelers might benefit from adding another talented receiver alongside George Pickens. Regardless of the outcome, Wilson’s NFL career is far from over. His desire to play at a high level persists whether with the Steelers or another team.
Time will reveal if he can secure a starting position, but he certainly has the backing of NFL fans who want to see him continue his journey in the league. One fan remarked on X, “If Russell goes to a place with a decent line and weapons he will be decent. Steelers had neither of those.”
