Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady has managed to stay incredibly relevant in the NFL since his retirement. Not only does he now call games for FOX’s premiere broadcast team, but he is also a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, despite Brady’s impressive post-playing career, not everyone agrees with how things are unfolding.
Brady has indicated his intention to remain with FOX for the duration of his contract, even with his involvement with the Raiders and the insider information he possesses. Boom Esiason, a former NFL quarterback, has voiced his concerns about this dual role. “Yeah, it’s 100% a conflict of interest but that $375 million that FOX gave Tom Brady for this ten-year deal probably went a lot into the Raiders, I would think,” Esiason remarked on CBS Sports.

Fans have reacted to Esiason’s comments on social media. One fan tweeted, “The Raiders have been (bad) for 20 years. Let’s worry about it if they actually start winning. Until then it’s a nothing burger.” Another noted, “These guys see a double standard and are willing to call it out. Fox is paying big rights fees and told Goodell, this is happening. Shut up and cash those checks. He just won’t say/do any Raiders stuff, like broadcasters not talking spreads if they’re calling a game.” A different fan chimed in, “As long as the Raiders continue to be terrible, I don’t care. It just means the conflict of interest isn’t amounting to anything.” It will be interesting to see if the league intervenes and forces Brady to step back from one of these roles in the future.
