NFL Community Responds to Astonishing Decision on Steelers Quarterback

The Pittsburgh Steelers ended their season on a low note, losing their last four regular-season games and ultimately falling to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round, marking their fifth consecutive defeat. As quarterback Russell Wilson’s performance declined throughout the season, speculation arose regarding the Steelers’ potential direction for the 2025 season. Notably, a prominent Steelers insider hinted that the team might consider moving on from Wilson, believing that the right candidate to lead the offense could already be within the organization.

According to Gerry Dulac from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers may not be as interested in top free-agent quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Sam Darnold, Kirk Cousins, and Daniel Jones as they are in Justin Fields, currently on their roster. “Any of the top quarterbacks who are expected to be available in free agency do not appear to interest the Steelers more than what they have with Fields,” Dulac reported, as noted by Steelers Depot.

Fans took to social media to express their reactions, with one fan commenting, “sliding Daniel Jones in the top quarterbacks available like no one would notice.” Another stated, “I think Fields is a limited QB. But I would not sign one of those guys over him. I would roll the dice with Justin. See if he can grow and evolve as a player. Sam Darnold is by far the best of the bunch but he will not succeed in Pittsburgh under this roster or coaching.” Others supported Fields, urging the team to give him a real shot and agreeing that he is the best option among the current free agents, stating, “Yeah, this free agency is weak in terms of QBs; run it back with Fields and if all else fails we draft a newbie in 2026.”

As the offseason approaches, it will be intriguing to see if Fields can revive his starting career in the league.
